Meet our Governors
"Governors are well trained and understand their roles and responsibilities. They are fully committed to the work of the school." Ofsted
Role of the School Governors
Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school: strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable their school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.
Being a school governor is a commitment to attending governing body meetings which consider issues such as setting the school vision, mitigating financial risk and scrutinising educational outcomes. They are also involved in the school community, acting as critical friends to the headteacher and senior leaders. Governors bring a wide range of skills and expertise from their professional lives to the governing board and schools benefit greatly from working with skilled volunteers, for example anyone with experience of finance, law, premises management or human resources. A governor with business know-how can transform the running of a school.
As with all schools, our governing body has a strong focus on three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
As well as termly full governing meetings, there are two further committees who meet regularly - Curriculum and Values and Finance, Safety and Staffing. When needed there are further committees for Appeals, Complaints and Staffing.
Instrument of Governance: Local Authority 1, Foundation 3, Parents 3, Staff 1, Headteacher 1, Co-opted 3 = 12 Governors plus one Associate Governor.
Parents can contact governors at any time, either via parent governors they know, or via the school office.

Diversity is important and we want our governing body to be reflective of the community they serve. Therefore, we carry out an annual governor diversity survey.
